This is the tale of the four Mirabal sisters during the fascism of Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic. At school, one of the sisters, Minerva, meets a young lady, Sinita, who later became perhaps her dearest companion. Sinita in the end trusted in Minerva’s reality with regards to Trujillo – that their “heavenly” chief was an executioner. The sisters make a political obligation to oust the Trujillo system. They are hassled, aggrieved, and detained, all while their family experiences counter the Military Intelligence Service (SIM).
As retribution for their political exercises, Trujillo orders three of the sisters be killed on Puerto Plata Road, with their driver Rufino, while getting back from visiting their spouses in prison. The ladies and driver are pounded into the ground and later their vehicle and bodies are unloaded off a bluff to make their demises resemble a mishap.
